REPORTS TO:
The County Clerk Starting salary within the grade is commensurate with education and experience.
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of county records and assisting in other aspects of elections. The work involves extensive communication with the public, volunteers, and colleagues. The work is performed mostly during weekday business hours, with occasional requirements for evening and weekend work. This position will work between the Office of the County Clerk and Voters Registration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Possess a high level of keyboarding and data entry knowledge. Knowledge of Berkeley County geography. Provide customer service in a sincere and tactful manner to members of the public and colleagues. Update files- both electronic and paper based Perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines. Work sustained periods of times while maintaining concentrated attention to detail. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and public Work with minimal supervision and follow policies and procedures. Follows all record retention and destruction protocols.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) Must be registered voter in Berkeley County. Must have no record of conviction of an election related offense. Ability to maintain records, make oral and written reports. Strong and effective spoken and written communication skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. •Comparable training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications•
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Work may require standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, bending, using hands and fingers to operate technology, and repetitive motions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Driver's License Some schedule flexibility will be required occasionally (evenings and weekends if workload demands). Some travel may be required
