  • Bastrop
  • Morehouse Parish The overall function of this position is the principal assistant for office management in a District Project Engineer's Office by performing contract and office administration on numerous construction projects. This position is in the District 05, Unit 215
  • Construction/Monroe at the Bastrop Project Office of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Engineer 6.
The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Candidates with the following specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities are encouraged to apply: A thorough knowledge of current DOTD, DBE, EEO, and FHWA policies, procedures, and specifications in order to ensure accuracy and compliance. A high degree of competency in math, organizational and communication skills (verbal and written). Extreme proficiency in the operation of personal computers and the associated software especially Microsoft Office, Site Manager and Content Manager. While no license is required for this position, advanced DOTD structured training requirements must be met and maintained. Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Eighteen semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics. Job Duties:
The job duties for this position include but are not limited to the following: Compiles field inspection records for monthly project accounting and estimate preparation and transmittal. Maintains ongoing accounting records and status reports for each project. Prepares and transmits monthly estimates and associated documents for audit and payment. Prepares final contract tabulations, summations, and payments Serves as lead worker with functional supervision of contract office administration. Manages internal office operations. Drafts project certifications. Prepares final as-built plans and contracts. Assembles final Summary of Test Results (2059s). Samples and prepares-cylinders to test for the strength of concrete material and related payment. May be required to work other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
