Nature of Work :
This position provides administrative and technical program support to the District 4 Traffic Engineering Division. The main purpose of this position is to manage the District Four Traffic Engineering Division's office operations, requiring thorough knowledge of the organization, policies, and programs under this office's jurisdiction. The District Traffic office responds to various customers, internal and external. The Office Manager supports the Assistant District Engineers - Traffic (ADE-T), Chief Traffic Operations Engineer, and the team leaders in preparation of citizen correspondence, customer complaint responses, and Administrator correspondence. This position responds to in-person, written, and telephone inquiries from elected officials, local government, community associations, internal offices, and the public concerning studies, reports, programs, policies, etc., and ensures that all Customer Care Management System (CCMS) and District Traffic Tracking System (DTS) requests are responded to and updated appropriately. The Office Manager manages a tracking database for all work assigned to the office and maintains all filing to ensure that all work is properly documented. This role also participates in developing organizational charts, procedural manuals, and standard operating procedures. Lastly, the Office Manager develops and maintains workflow processes in coordination with the ADE-Ts, Chief Traffic Operations Engineer, and Team Leaders and provides support to the office's performance management and measurement efforts. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience :
Three (3) years of experience in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
Selective Qualification :
One and a half (1 ½) years of experience in traffic engineering related work. This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill, or ability).
Preferred Qualification:
The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute education in a civil engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience. 2. Applicants who possess an associate's degree in engineering, construction management or surveying or surveying technology from an accredited community college, college or university are considered to have met two years of the required experience. Licenses & Certifications Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
