Job Description

Verify and post investment and cash transactions. Prepare various monthly investment reports, quarterly interest accrual report and annual report of investment. Analyze fund balances to determine availability of cash for investments and expenditures. Contact financial institutions with investment and funds transfer instructions. Reconcile bank statements; manage retainage accounts; Reconcile settlement statement from Oakland County. Coordinate the billing, collection and integration of special assessment projects into the computer system; generate billing and reconcile collections. Responsible for billing and posting Multi-year special assessments in the BS&A system. Distribute funds and charges to various City department funds. Help monitor cash flow for investments and daily financial needs. Assist with training and day to day work flow when needed and/or in the absence of the Deputy Treasurer Assist public with tax and special assessment inquiries; assist with Notary services. Special projects and other duties as assigned. Associates degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field. Three (3) years' related experience in Accounting, Finance or governmental treasury functions; experience in cash investment desired. Excellent math aptitude and the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies. Three (3) years' experience producing proficiency in personal computer operations including, spreadsheets, database and word processing programs. Courtesy and positive attitude in dealing with the public and co-workers; good judgment in handling questions and referring problems to supervisors. Significant problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to work well under deadline pressure. Must possess the ability to perform high volume, multi-task duties during peak periods in an accurate and timely manner. Must successfully complete or have completed the skills test battery, including Excel, 10 key, filing, and math. The selection process will include a review of the applicant's experience for posted requirements, a criminal history check, a skills test, and an oral board interview. Each step of the process must be passed before the applicant will be moved to the next step. Applicants will be invited to further participate in the selection process based on the nature and extent of their related experience.
