Starting Salary:
$34,000 annually Position Summary The Treasurer's Office is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual for a fast-paced, front-line customer service position. This role requires strong communication skills, cash handling experience, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a high-traffic office environment. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while processing payments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily office operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accept and process payments for utilities, taxes, and miscellaneous bills using automated accounting systems. Provide professional and courteous customer service by assisting citizens with questions regarding payments, billing, due dates, and account information. Accurately handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions while maintaining balanced cash drawers and preparing daily deposits. Prepare daily cash receipt reports and assist with additional financial and administrative reports as requested. Maintain and organize records, receipts, invoices, bills, and related documentation. Answer, screen, route, and document incoming telephone calls and office inquiries. Operate standard office equipment including computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines, printers, shredders, and mailing equipment. Utilize Microsoft Excel and other computer programs to maintain records, track data, and prepare reports. Assist with preparing and distributing bills, notices, and correspondence. Receive and organize office supplies and department equipment orders. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in:
Customer service Cash handling and money management Data entry and office support Experience using Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with the public in person and over the phone. Ability to accurately handle money, count cash, make change, and balance cash drawers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and processing financial transactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data entry, and basic office software applications. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete both routine and complex administrative tasks. Knowledge of basic math, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to work efficiently in a busy office environment while managing multiple responsibilities. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements May require extended periods of standing, concentration, typing, and repetitive motion. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, including files and office supplies. Occasional travel for training or meetings may be required. Position open until filled.
