As a mailroom clerk and runner, you will be tasked with processing, sorting, and distributing incoming mail among legal staff, along with handling and processing outgoing mail. As a back-up runner, you will cover for our primary runner and will act as our runner should the primary runner be unavailable. You will drop off mail and other deliverables (i.e., packages or other documents) to the post office or to other drop-off locations (court, opposing counsel etc.). Reliable transportation in the form of an insured personal vehicle is required for this position. The mailroom clerk/runner should be organized, reliable, and demonstrate an excellent attendance record. Must be professional in appearance and dress.
Responsibilities:
Processes, sorts (by department, location or category), and routes incoming mail and faxes to appropriate client matters Hyperlinks documents to appropriate files. Collects and processes outgoing mail for delivery (e.g., weighing outgoing mail, attaching appropriate postage and labels, preparing envelopes, and verifying addresses etc.) while using mail machine. Operates mail machine (including the postage meter, mail folding and inserting machine) and photocopying machine. Acts as a backup runner, which includes physically delivering mail to the post office. May deliver or pick up other documents from various locations across Northern California (i.e., filing legal documents at local courthouses, transporting exhibits to court, hand-delivering mail to opposing firms etc.). Coordinates express delivery when needed. Quality control checks of incoming data, documents and material sorting according to file system. Corrects and reforwards misdirected mail. May empty paper bins and discards documents or other items in a secured recycle bin. Fills copy machines with paper. Stays abreast of changes in postage requirements and prices and ensures mailroom supplies are stocked. May act as a "floater" providing backup support for various departments, including completing miscellaneous assignments and special projects. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid California Driver's License and reliable, insured personal vehicle. Ability to move and lift boxes or mail tubs (25-50 lbs.) (with the use of a dolly available). Reliable, punctual, and strong attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to work effectively in a team environment, and to correctly sort and distribute large amounts of mail. Proficiency with Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and ability to navigate document management systems.
Pay range:
$18.50/hr. to $21.50/hr. commensurate with skills and experience.
Work Hours:
Full-time, Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week
Work Location:
In-person with occasional travel References may be required. Proof of insurance required during application process.
