Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized, professional, and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced medical practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front desk operations, providing excellent patient service, and ensuring efficient administrative support in a high-volume healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner. Answer and direct a high volume of incoming phone calls. Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments. Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility. Collect copays, balances, and other payments. Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Handle patient registration, intake forms, and medical documentation. Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medical records requests as needed. Monitor waiting room flow and communicate appointment delays to patients. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. Perform general administrative duties including filing, scanning, faxing, and data entry. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical receptionist, medical office, or healthcare administrative experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and EMR systems preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and scheduling software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy, high-pressure environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Skills and Competencies Exceptional customer service and patient relations. Ability to handle a large volume of phone calls and patient interactions. Time management and prioritization skills. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently. Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities. Accuracy in data entry and record management. Work Environment Fast-paced, high-volume medical office. Frequent interaction with patients, providers, and office staff. Requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
