SCHOOL RECEPTIONIST QUALIFICATIONS
Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education. Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and one of the following: Completion of 48 semester hours, at an accredited college or university; OR An associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university with at least 64 semester hours of study or two years of coursework; OR Receipt of a passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Background Check Required:
(HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

: Building Principal
JOB GOAL
: To respond to inquiries at school from staff, students, parents, and the public; providing requested information and/or referral to other parties, directing visitors; and providing general clerical support to administrators. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applicable to
All Employees:
Attend on a regular and predictable basis. Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness. Uphold Board policies, including the anti-harassment program. Work in a cooperative manner with students, teachers, staff, supervisors, and the public. Work effectively and efficiently under time and productivity standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Answers school telephone system for the purpose of responding to inquiries, transferring calls, and/or taking messages. Greets visitors (e.g. public, parents, students, substitutes, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or directing them to appropriate personnel. Receives deliveries, mail, supplies, messages, keys, etc. for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties. Responds to emergency calls for the purpose of notifying appropriate parties to address immediate safety and/or security issues. Screens inquiries of staff, students, parents, the public, etc. (e.g. phone calls, visitors, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area that includes a reading table stocked with current school district publications and periodicals of general interest. With direction from the principal, may compose a variety of materials as letters, memoranda, and reports from rough drafts or oral instructions. Works efficiently with a service-oriented attitude under stressful situations with constant interruption. Maintains confidentiality of personnel and student matters. Effectively manage time and multiple responsibilities. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sustained data entry function could cause carpal tunnel syndrome and/or eye strain. Ordinary care and precaution are required. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills and compile. Occasionally required to copy and negotiate.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
The environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive. Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities. Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment. Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.
EMPLOYMENT
: This is a ten-month contract (200 days). The salary range is based upon a board approved salary schedule.
WORK SCHEDULE
: The work day shall be established by the building principal but shall not exceed 7.5 hours per day, excluding ½ hour for a duty-free lunch, unless other arrangements are made by the building principal.
EVALUATION
: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.
