Job Description

Overview The position of Administrative Assistantis responsible for organizing and overseeing all day-to-day office tasks for Salem Lutheran Church and Preschool. The Administrative Assistantworks with and collaborates with Salem staff to ensure all daily clerical, organizational, and relevant operational tasks are being performed in a timely and appropriate manner. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and callers, ensuring smooth daily operations while supporting various office functions. Your positive attitude and proactive approach will help create a professional, efficient, and friendly workplace atmosphere. Qualifications Accepts and supports the Old and New Testaments as the inspired word of God and is willing to uphold the teachings of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, particularly those presented in Luther's Small Catechism. Preference two years of experience in organization and office management. Preference to be bilingual and able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (including speaking and writing with correct grammar) Is passionate about people and the ministry of Salem Lutheran. Works with a positive attitude and is a supportive team member. Maintains and models healthy boundaries in family and work. Responsibilities Manages and organizes Salem's office, ensuring it operates effectively for the wellbeing of the church and preschool. Communicates clearly and effectively with congregation and community to support the mission in an enthusiastic manner. Serves the congregation and community as an excample of Christian conduct an endeavors earnestly to live in Christian unity with members and coworkers. Greets members and visitors warmly, assists and directs them to appropriate staff or meetings Manages phone system, answer inquiries promptly, and route calls efficiently using proper phone etiquette Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, mail, and packages with accuracy and confidentiality Maintain organized filing systems, data entry records, and ensure all documents are proofread for accuracy Support office management tasks such as inventory tracking, supply ordering. Maintains electonic information database of members. Prepares and distributes both electronic and paper communications to church members. Skills Preference to be bilingual and able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (including speaking and writing with correct grammar) Proven experience in office management or administrative support roles with strong organizational skills Excellent computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, and data entry skills Familiarity with phone systems, phone etiquette, and customer support best practices Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse client needs effectively Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently Exceptional attention to detail for proofreading documents and maintaining accurate records Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while providing outstanding customer service This role offers an opportunity to develop your administrative expertise while contributing to a vibrant team environment. Pay:
