Job Description

The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a cardiology office. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing patient appointments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the clinical team to ensure efficient office operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner. Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and efficiently. Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments. Register new patients and update demographic and insurance information. Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations when applicable. Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances. Check patients in and out while ensuring all required documentation is completed. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, faxes, and medical records requests. Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and medical assistants regarding patient scheduling needs. Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, referrals, and office procedures. Maintain an organized reception area and administrative records. Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical office or healthcare reception experience preferred. Experience in a cardiology, specialty practice, or physician office is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes preferred. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
