Job Description

Job Summary /Job Purpose Under direct supervision, the receptionist is responsible for performing a variety of general administrative support duties associated with the patient intake and checkout processes and performs routine duties within the clinic.

In person I. Key Responsibilities Greet patients as they sign in and assist walk-in patients. Perform patient check-in at the time of visit and complete all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all clinic and regulatory policies are in compliance. Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately. Schedule appointments according to office guidelines. Obtain accurate patient and insurance information. Verify insurance eligibility. Collect copays, deductible, and outstanding balance amounts. Copy/scan patient access related hardcopy materials (e.g., ID, referral information, insurance cards, etc.) into the correct location in the electronic medical record. Prepare medical records for patient appointments by making certain all necessary information is complete. Work assigned inboxes. Conduct all functions associated with patient check-out including pricing services, collecting patient responsibility payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments. Confirm next-day appointments and alert patients as to what documentation is needed, including details associated with time-of-service payment. Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments and send out the appropriate communications. Prepare batch for payments received at end of day. Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities:
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages. IV. Job Requirements / Qualifications A.
Education / Accreditation
/
Licensure:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. B.
Experience:
2 years related experience in a front office clinic setting preferred.
