Job Description

The Arc Eastern Connecticut has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 60 years. We actively champion for full community inclusion and are a licensed and contracted service provider of the Connecticut Department of Development Services. We provide residential, daytime, employment, and social supports to people with IDD and their families. Come join our team!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and callers, providing professional and welcoming front desk support during afternoon hours. This position is responsible for managing incoming communications, monitoring visitor access, and supporting general office operations.
Schedule:
Tuesday-Thursday 12pm-4pm
Location:
Norwich, CT Key Responsibilities:
Answer and appropriately transfer incoming phone calls using a multi-line telephone system Greet and welcome guests, ensure sign-in procedures are completed, and escort or direct visitors to their designated destination Receive, sign for, and notify appropriate staff of delivered packages Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable lobby and reception area Assist with basic clerical or administrative tasks as needed Support marketing efforts when assigned, including social media oversight, photography for media use, advertising assistance, and related tasks
Qualifications & Skills:
Basic knowledge of operating office telephone systems Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Outlook) Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining communication with a designated point of contact Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for short periods This role requires reliability, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a front-facing office environment while ensuring a positive experience for all visitors and staff.
