Job Description:
Our radiation oncology practice is seeking a compassionate and highly organized Front Desk Receptionist to manage daily front office operations and provide exceptional service to our patients. As the first point of contact, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients undergoing cancer treatment. This position requires strong multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and a calm, professional demeanor. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a high-volume, fast-paced medical setting while maintaining sensitivity to the needs of oncology patients and their families. To succeed in this role, you should have a friendly and empathetic personality, as well as the ability to respond to patient needs efficiently and respectfully. You must be detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of maintaining composure in stressful situations. Responsibilities Greet and welcome patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion Check patients in and out, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls in a timely manner Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments Maintain patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient flow and needs Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials Handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations Assist patients with forms, questions, and general inquiries Perform general clerical duties such as filing, faxing, scanning, and data entry Support the care team by helping manage daily workflow and patient coordination Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a Receptionist or Front Office Representative in a medical setting Familiarity with EMR systems and basic medical terminology Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a compassionate approach Professional appearance and demeanor Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive problem-solver Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
