Day Job Job Summary The receptionist is responsible for greeting internal and external customers in person or on the telephone. Essential Functions Operating a multi-line telephone system Providing requested information and/or forwarding callers to appropriate locations or individuals (70%) Greeting visitors to the college, determines the nature of their business, and provides appropriate information (15%) Maintain a basic knowledge of admissions procedures, deadlines, and upcoming events Providing clerical support to various departments (5%) Participates in the Strategic Planning process for the college/department and helps implement the plan (5%) Other duties as assigned. (5%) Competencies Knowledge of phone system operation Knowledge of college activities Ability to demonstrate proper phone etiquette Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software Effective communication, verbal and written and ability to provide effective guidance and communication both face to face and over the phone Specific knowledge of college program completion requirements Understanding of FERPA restrictions and proper guidance and assistance within compliance of privacy acts and restrictions Minimum Qualification High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications One-year experience performing clerical tasks or providing customer service Experience utilizing Banner/BanWeb within the last six months Three or more years of customer service experience Ability to multi-task and function in a busy environment Experience operating a multi-line phone system within the last six months in a post-secondary environment Post-secondary education in the form of a certificate or diploma Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies. High school diploma or equivalent
