Job Description

Administrative Assistant/Receptionist at ESC Building Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Twelve month (260) day work calendar
Immediate Supervisor:
Director of Human Resources Essential Functions:
including, but not limited to, the following: Greet and assist visitors to the Educational Services Center. Answer phones and direct incoming calls to the appropriate person or place. Establish and maintain a file on each substitute and keep filing updated. Obtain criminal history background checks on all staff members, substitutes, and volunteers. Call and schedule substitutes in emergency situations. Take I.D. pictures for new employees. Assist with preparation of corporation documents (printing, stapling, hole punching, binding, collating, etc.) as needed. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience that is
Required:
High-school diploma (minimum); previous secretarial experience preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Exhibit competency in the following areas: computer applications (Microsoft Word/Excel/Google, Skyward); ability to handle receptionist duties and correspondence; must have excellent bookkeeping skills and work well with people in the office and the school community; must be able to function as a team member and maintain confidentiality. Before an individual can work with students or have his/her name submitted for approval to the Board of School Trustees, the candidate must complete the background check authorization (at a cost of $15.00-cash or check) and the background check must receive a "cleared" rating. Additionally, the individual must complete a federal I-9 form (providing appropriate identification documents); tax forms; a direct-deposit form (with an attached voided check); and, view training videos at the Educational Services Center (approximately one hour in length). By submitting this application I authorize LaPorte Community School Corporation to check my employment history including, without limitation, evaluations, criminal arrest and conviction record, reference checks, and any investigatory information possessed by any private or public employer or any state, local, or federal agency. I further authorize those persons, agencies, or entities that the La Porte Community School Corporation contacts in connection with my employment application to fully provide the La Porte Community School Corporation any information on the matters set forth above. I expressly waive, in connection with any request for or provision of information, any claims, including without limitation, defamation, emotional distress, invasion of privacy, or interference with contractual relations that I might otherwise have against the La Porte Community School Corporation, its agents and officials, or against any provider of such information. It is also understood and agreed that any misrepresentation, by me, in this application will be sufficient cause for cancellation of this application or separation from the employer's service if I have been employed.
