Job Description

I. GENERAL PURPOSE
A nonexempt position responsible for providing administrative support.
II. REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY
​Reports to the Practice Manager. ​
III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates commitment to the quality, philosophy, and values of Psoriasis & Eczema Centers of Kentucky by maintaining established policies and procedures, organizational objectives, process improvement, and safety standards. 2. Demonstrates courtesy in all interpersonal relations. 3. Greets patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner. 4. Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information. 5. Ensures that appropriate forms have been completed, signed by patient and uploaded into the patient's chart. 6. Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and staff. 7. Schedules appointments, routes calls, takes messages, and returns calls as needed. 8. Collects co-pays and account payments. Responsible for cash handling, balancing daily transactions, and making daily deposits. 9. Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party. 10. Follows compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines of federal and state programs with an emphasis on prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse. 11. Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended. 12. Maintain the front desk and reception area. 13. Maintain incoming and outgoing referrals. 14. Maintain the task inbox in the electronic health record. 15. Verify insurance on the day of and the day prior to patient appointments. 16. Conduct end-of-day posting 17. Check fax queues and messages as needed. 18. All other duties as assigned by Practice Manager and/or provider(s). IV.​
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of industry standards for administrative duties and responsibilities. 2. Skilled in written and verbal communication, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 3. Skilled in telephone etiquette, customer service, basic Word and Excel programs, time management, prioritizing, multi-tasking, organization, and scheduling. 4. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. 5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and diverse patient populations. 6. Ability to adapt to varying tasks and work situations. V.​
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
A.
Education/Experience Requirements:
a. High School Diploma or GED, required. b. Previous experience working in a medical office environment is preferred. c. Minimum computer competency preferred and/or ability to be trained. B.
Equipment Operated:
Phone, computer, medical charts. C.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
a. Daily standing, sitting, squatting, stooping, walking, bending, maneuvering, balancing, kneeling, lifting up to 25 lbs. b. Finger dexterity, clerical perception, motor coordination, visual acuity, hearing, and eye-hand coordination. VI.​

EXPOSURE RISK
Category I - Tasks that involve anticipated contact with blood, body fluids, or tissue. Medical exam, treatment rooms, and medical offices. Pay:
$15.00 - $19.00 per hour
