Our practice currently provides care for dogs, cats, and birds. As a receptionist, you are the first point of contact for many of our clients. We are looking for someone with great client communication skills and who works well with others. We pride ourselves on the familial relationships we form with our clients and patients, some of which have been with us for 25 years or more. At least 1 year previous experience in the veterinary field is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Some of the basic responsibilities required of our Receptionists include: Use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively use practice management software (Shepherd) Coordinate and schedule appointments via email and phone requests Ability to learn basic veterinary terminology Coordinate the flow of pets and owners in the waiting room Identify potential emergencies over the phone and schedule appropriately Process payments, refunds, returns, and credits as needed Input data into the practice management software Checking in and checking out clients and patients Become familiar with all retail products, vaccinations, medications, routine testing, and preventatives to be able to confidently discuss with clients Maintain cleanliness of the reception and waiting room Veterinary Receptionist requirements and qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent customer service and communication skills Previous administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare setting. Familiarity with veterinary medical billing software is advantageous. Intermediate computer proficiency. Basic arithmetic skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. Personable, empathetic disposition. Capacity to work well during distressing situations. Ability to work morning and evening shifts during the week as well as Saturday morning shifts Dependable and responsible
