Job Description

Looking for an opportunity to pair the career opportunity you need with the adventurous lifestyle you love? Join the premier wilderness lodge and outfitter in northern Minnesota and live, work, and play in the Minnesota Northwoods, just steps away from the legendary Boundary Waters in the heart of the Superior National Forest. Gunflint Lodge is located 45 miles up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, Minnesota, our nearest town. We are surrounded by over 1 million acres of wilderness in the Superior National Forest. Guests come from all over the world to relax, fish, swim, canoe, and explore in the Northwoods atmosphere. At Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters you will provide excellent service to our guests and interact with people who enjoy wilderness adventure and who love the outdoors! We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide leadership and support for our many guest activities, including our zipline canopy tour, horseback riding and carriage stable, dock/marina, fishing guides, and rental activities. You will answer phones, help guests plan and schedule activities, greet our guests when they arrive for activities and answer questions and anticipate and respond to guest needs. You will lead teams of onsite staff and tour guides and be responsible for ensuring the safety of equipment and processes. In this position you will be part of a team where the safety, comfort, and experience of our guests is your top priority. You will be a key component in assuring that we deliver the best possible experience for our guests, since you will be face to face with them on a daily basis. All of their questions and concerns will be directed to you and our objective is to trust you to represent our resort in these situations. You will be a key member of our hospitality team, ensuring that excellent guest services are delivered and leading, mentoring, and developing associates. May include mostly daytime or evening shifts, including weekend shifts as required based off of business need. The schedules are set for 40 hours per week with two consecutive days off. Although you may be hired for a specific position, there are times when you may be called upon to fulfill other job duties. In a resort atmosphere we all pitch in wherever necessary to get the job done. With that in mind, we are looking for applicants who are extremely flexible and like a variety of work. Job duties include guest orientation of our property, review of guest packages, reservation processing, data entry, telephone communications, answering guest questions, cleaning/organizing, and any other duties that may be asked of team members. Our goal is to have an organized, logical, and level-headed team with very good communication skills and warm personalities. You must have basic typing skills and be able to work with computers. We keep clear and comprehensive records of guest bookings and all billings for accountability and future reference and processes. We are responsible for communicating with guests in person, over the phone, in writing and by email. The Activities team is responsible for reporting issues to Guest services, maintenance or management to resolve all guests' concerns and ensure their comfort and satisfaction. Excellent written and verbal communication and basic math skills are required. Housing is available at a discount rate. Recreational equipment is available for use at a minimal charge.
