Full-Time Job Summary:
The Medical Office Registration Secretary plays a vital role in ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate data entry at a family practice office. This position is responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and maintaining up-to-date patient records—all while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. ️
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival Register new and returning patients accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals Collect co-pays and outstanding balances; issue receipts Schedule appointments Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient care Monitor waiting room flow and notify staff of delays or issues
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Prior experience in medical office or healthcare setting preferred but not required Familiarity with EHR systems Knowledge of insurance plans and billing procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Working Conditions:
Office-based role with frequent interaction with patients and staff Requires a minimum of one Saturday per month (7:30am-noon) May require some Tuesday evening shifts
