Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient referrals, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and managed care processes. Duties Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and ensure timely processing of requests. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for referrals, ensuring compliance with managed care protocols. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 for accurate billing and coding of services rendered. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their referral status and any necessary follow-up actions. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient care and address any issues related to referrals or authorizations. Assist in maintaining the integrity of medical records by ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date Qualifications Previous experience in a medical office Strong knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices. Proficient in CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10). Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
