Medical Receptionist / Front Office Coordinator Job Summary We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and professional Medical Receptionist / Front Office Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for welcoming patients, managing appointment scheduling, verifying insurance, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring a smooth front-office experience. Key Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person and on the telephone; answer questions or refer inquiries appropriately. Handles prior authorization requests by submitting required clinical documentation, communicating with insurance companies, and tracking approvals to ensure timely patient care. Schedule and maintain patient appointments by: Verifying insurance benefits and eligibility prior to visits Reminding patients of upcoming appointments Registering and checking in patients in a timely manner Preparing necessary visit documentation Notifying providers of late arrivals and rescheduling when needed Maintain a welcoming environment by anticipating patient needs, addressing concerns, and keeping the reception area clean and presentable. Maintain patient records by obtaining, recording, and updating demographics and insurance information in the electronic health records (EHR) system. Maintain accurate financial records by updating patient accounts, recording and collecting payments, and providing receipts. Protect patient confidentiality by complying with HIPAA regulations. Learn and effectively use our electronic health records system (All scripts). Perform additional duties as assigned by providers or management. Skills and Qualifications Medical Assistant training or experience preferred Knowledge of Managed Care policies and procedures, including obtaining information from health plans and IPAs Professional appearance and behavior Willingness to work a flexible schedule Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to use good judgment and remain calm in stressful situations Excellent verbal, telephone, and communication skills Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Ability to learn new systems and adapt quickly Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) Pay Rate (Virginia) Hourly pay ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
