Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Receptionist to support front-desk operations for a contract position based in Madison, Wisconsin. This role is ideal for someone who creates a welcoming first impression, manages a steady flow of incoming calls, and keeps daily office communication organized. The successful candidate will bring strong phone-handling abilities, attention to detail, and a dependable approach in a part-time setting.
Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and provide courteous front-desk support to ensure a positive experience for guests and staff.
- Manage incoming calls through a multi-line phone system, directing each call promptly and accurately to the appropriate contact.
- Operate the office switchboard efficiently while handling several phone lines at once with accuracy and care.
- Respond to inbound phone inquiries by providing basic information, taking messages, and escalating calls when needed.
- Maintain an orderly reception area and help support smooth day-to-day administrative flow within the office.
- Schedule, log, or relay messages and visitor information clearly so internal teams remain informed.
- Provide dependable part-time coverage for reception activities while following office procedures and service expectations. Requirements
- Previous experience in a receptionist, front-desk, or customer-facing administrative role.
- Ability to handle a multi-line phone system with confidence and strong call-routing accuracy.
- Experience managing inbound calls in a detail-oriented and courteous manner.
- Familiarity with switchboard operations involving multiple phone lines.
- Strong verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented approach when interacting with visitors and callers.
- Reliable organizational skills with the ability to manage routine tasks in a part-time position.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment.
