Position Overview Lano Equipment is looking for a Grade Control Specialist to handle the high-tech systems used on our heavy construction machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, setting up, and fixing advanced measurements and steering technology on large equipment like bulldozers and excavators. This includes working with 2D and 3D computer guidance, GPS satellite systems, lasers, and digital measuring tools. You will act as the link between new technology and real-world construction sites. This job requires someone who likes solving technical problems in a busy environment. You will find and fix equipment issues, teach operators how to use the technology, and make sure customers can get their work done accurately and without delays.
Key Responsibilities Installing Tech & Fixing Problems Setup & Calibration:
Install and precisely adjust 2D and 3D computer guidance systems on different types of large construction machines.
Finding Bugs:
Figure out and fix technical problems with GPS hardware, laser tools, and the software that runs them. Technical Support & Working with
Factories Helping Workers:
Provide helpful technical support in person or over the phone to machine operators, site bosses, and our own mechanics.
Handling Tough Issues:
When a problem is too complicated to fix alone, work directly with the technology companies and manufacturers to get a solution quickly.
Teaching & Learning Training Others:
Teach customers and Lano employees how the systems work, how to use them correctly, and how to take care of them.
Staying Updated:
Keep studying and learning about new construction technology, tracking tools, and automation so you stay an expert.
Record Keeping Keeping Notes:
Write and save clear, accurate records of your repairs and tech support in the company computer system.
Safety Rules Following Safety Laws:
Follow all official safety rules (like OSHA laws) to ensure no one gets hurt while working on machines or visiting jobsites.
Qualifications & Skills Technology & Experience Tech Experience:
Experience setting up and fixing major construction tech brands like Trimble, Topcon, or Leica Geosystems.
Electronics Knowledge:
Strong mechanical skills combined with the ability to find and fix electrical and electronic problems.
Reading Manuals:
Ability to read and understand complicated electrical wiring maps, fluid system diagrams, and instruction books.
Machine Knowledge:
A basic understanding of how heavy construction machines and hydraulic systems work.
Communication & Planning Clear Talking:
The ability to explain complicated satellite data and tech terms in plain, simple words that customers can easily understand.
Organization:
Good time management skills to keep track of your schedule, customer appointments, and paperwork.
Travel & Schooling Driving:
A valid driver's license and the willingness to drive to different customer jobsites regularly to help them.
Education:
A high school diploma is required. A degree or certificate from a technical school for mechanics or technology is a big plus. Extra Useful Skills (Preferred)
GPS Setup:
Experience setting up GPS tripods, base stations, and local site measurements. 3
D Models:
Experience working with 3D computer models and map files used by construction machines.
Remote Tracking:
Knowledge of how computers track machinery locations and problems from far away.
