Job Description

Minimum Entry Level Qualifications Experience and/or level of competency: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Academic Preparation:
1 year experience in an acute care hospital, medical terminology course. Must be able to communicate effectively in
English and Spanish General Description:
Greets patients/visitors and provides assistance, guides them to appropriate area or provides further directions and/or instructions. Maintains call lists and employee recall list. Communicates with Security Department as needed via radio. Communicates with Security Department as needed via radio. Assists VVRMC employees with outgoing international calls. Requires excellent telephone etiquette. Receives and relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls for the facility. Provides directory information, transfers calls as appropriate. Able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish. This position is a rotating shift.
Specific Responsibilities:
Greets patients/visitors and provides assistance, guides them to appropriate area or provides further directions and/or instructions. Treats patients/visitors with respect and dignity. Maintains "on-call" lists and employee recall list. Communicates with Security Department as needed via radio. Assists VVRMC employees with outgoing international calls. Makes overhead announcements as requested. Requires excellent phone etiquette. Provides directory information, transfers calls as appropriately. Receives and relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls for the facility. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. Maintains good working relationships both within the department and with other departments throughout the facility. Submits work requests/beeps doctors, employees, departments as needed. Assists with distribution of incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail as needed. Maintains current Hospitalist on call list and Employee Recall list. Keeps updated on-call list for evenings and weekends for all departments. Enters data for Admitting Department QA daily on Excel Spreadsheets. Meets current standards and policies in documentation. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Reviews statements for accuracy, has them scanned, and then mail to our patient's. Assists with other duties/special projects as assigned.
