About the
Role:
The Switchboard Operator/Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication within the company. This position serves as the first point of contact for some clients and visitors, creating a welcoming environment while efficiently managing incoming calls and inquiries. The operator will be responsible for directing calls to the appropriate departments and providing accurate information to clients, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the Switchboard Operator/Receptionist directly impacts the company's reputation and client relationships. Minimum Qualifications (Requirements): High school diploma or equivalent. Self-Starter, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, including telephone skills with the ability to use proper phone etiquette. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Commitment to provide high quality service. Ability to follow written and verbal direction. Must have at least beginner's typing abilities. Can easily adapt to changes in work requirements. Preferred Qualifications (Desired): Friendly and approachable demeanor.
Responsibilities:
Accurate transferring of calls to the appropriate individual/department Greeting individuals in The Health Plan lobby in a courteous and helpful manner. Maintain workplace security by issuing, checking, and collecting visitor badges as necessary and maintaining the visitor log Projecting a professional appearance and speaking voice.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong communication abilities, which are essential for effectively interacting with clients and colleagues. Organizational skills are also vital, as the operator must manage multiple tasks and prioritize them efficiently throughout the day. Attention to detail is important when handling inquiries and ensuring accurate information is relayed. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with the insurance industry, will enhance the operator's ability to provide relevant information to clients.
