Job Description

Overview Own A Car is seeking a reliable DMV Clerk to manage all vehicle title, registration, and DMV-related paperwork for a busy used-car dealership. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with DMV procedures and documentation. Key Responsibilities Prepare, submit, and track title transfers, registrations, and lien filings with the DMV and other agencies. Complete and process DMV forms (e.g., REG 343, REG 227, smog certificates) accurately and on time. Reconcile DMV paperwork with sales contracts and keep accurate records. Coordinate with sales, finance, and service teams to ensure timely document flow for funded deals and payoffs. Maintain electronic and paper filing systems; scan and upload documents into dealer management software. Follow up on outstanding items (titles, registrations, releases) and resolve discrepancies. Monitor DMV hold times, fees, and turnaround; advise management of delays or issues. Provide excellent customer service to buyers regarding title/registration questions and paperwork pickup. Assist with routine administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications 1+ year experience handling DMV/title work, preferably in automotive retail or title company. Strong knowledge of California DMV processes, forms, and requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with paperwork. Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and dealer management or document-tracking systems. Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments. Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative or DMV certification a plus. Working Hours & Compensation Full-time; typical weekday schedule (may require occasional extended hours to meet deadlines). Competitive pay based on experience; benefits available.

$22.50 - $27.10 per hour
