Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Title Examiner to join our fun, collaborative, and fast-growing company. This role plays a key part in supporting smooth and successful real estate transactions by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and marketability of property titles. As a Title Examiner, you will examine public records, prepare title commitments, and serve as a trusted resource for escrow and closing teams. You will work closely with attorneys, underwriters, lenders, and internal operations teams while utilizing our title production system, SoftPro, to efficiently identify and resolve title issues. Key Responsibilities Examine and analyze public records, including deeds, mortgages, liens, easements, judgments, plats, and probate records Conduct title searches using county records and approved online databases, as applicable in Michigan Prepare accurate title commitments in accordance with underwriter and company guidelines Identify title defects, encumbrances, and requirements for curative action Assist escrow and closing staff by answering title-related questions and clearly explaining title requirements Collaborate with attorneys, underwriters, lenders, and internal teams to resolve title issues prior to closing Work efficiently within our SoftPro title production system to create, update, and manage title files Ensure compliance with applicable state regulations, underwriting guidelines, and internal procedures Manage multiple files simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Qualifications Prior experience as a Title Examiner (residential and/or commercial preferred) Strong understanding of real estate law, title insurance policies, and title examination procedures Experience preparing title commitments Familiarity with SoftPro or similar title production systems preferred Ability to read and interpret complex legal documents and legal descriptions Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
