Job Description:
MAO is seeking an experienced Curative Specialist to support oil and gas exploration, development, acquisition, and production projects across Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. This hybrid role is responsible for researching, analyzing, and resolving title defects and ownership issues involving mineral, leasehold, and surface interests. The ideal candidate will possess strong title curative experience, working knowledge of regional land practices, and the ability to independently manage complex ownership and land matters while collaborating with clients, landowners, attorneys, and internal project teams.
Responsibilities:
Research, analyze, and resolve title defects related to mineral ownership, leasehold interests, rights-of-way, probate, heirship, unreleased liens, and other oil and gas ownership matters. Perform title curative activities supporting leasing, acquisitions, due diligence, drilling, division order, and development projects. Review title opinions, run sheets, deeds, leases, probate records, assignments, contracts, and other legal instruments to identify deficiencies and corrective actions. Prepare and coordinate curative instruments including affidavits, stipulations of interest, ratifications, probate documentation, conveyances, and corrective assignments. Conduct courthouse, online, and database research to verify ownership and establish accurate chains of title. Negotiate and acquire land agreements necessary to satisfy client and project requirements. Maintain accurate daily activity reports, ownership records, title status updates, and project deliverables. Collaborate with landmen, title examiners, attorneys, project managers, and clients to ensure timely resolution of title issues and compliance with project procedures. Serve as liaison with landowners regarding ownership questions, curative requirements, access issues, and damage claims. Utilize company and client systems, databases, GIS platforms, and reporting tools to manage assignments efficiently.
