Job Description

Part-Time - Every other Saturday/Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Under guidance from the Program Manager and Psychiatrist, with latitude for initiative and independent professional judgment, serves as an assessor for the Outpatient/Partial Hospital Department. Plans and coordinates therapeutic services for outpatient clients and their families. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Screens and Assesses clients/families in a professional, thorough and timely fashion. Assures that the client/family has a clear understanding of what is recommended, including alternative options, if any, and the rationale behind the recommendation. Triages clients who require services other than Outpatient (i.e. Mobile Engagement Services, Inpatient, mental health services) in a timely and organized fashion. Provides clinically related tasked such as correspondence, completion of managed care forms, and works in assuring services are authorized and client obligations are handled. Manages pre-certifications and other insurance and/or county related requirements for authorizing care. Completes all required documentation within the standard time frames. Ensures that all documentation is complete from admission to discharge, as applicable. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements. Demonstrates/models the Network's PCRAFT values during interactions with all customers. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours at time). Requires continual use of fingers for patient care, writing and computer entry. Requires ability to hear normal conversation and good general, near and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Competency in addressing clinical matters over the phone or through a formal clinical assessment. Understanding of payor sources and protocol, addiction treatment options, St. Luke's Penn Foundation services, emergency management, and client/family interventions.
