Job Description

Admissions Coordinator (West Hempstead) For over 30 years, Gersh Autism has empowered students on the autism spectrum to reach their full potential. Serving individuals aged 5-21 across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, our network of K-12 schools provides personalized education tailored to each student's unique learning style. We offer comprehensive therapeutic services—speech, physical, occupational therapy, and more—along with vocational training for older students. Our dedicated team collaborates with families to ensure academic, social, and emotional growth, preparing students for success beyond the classroom. The Admissions Coordinator serves as a trusted guide for families exploring placement at Gersh Autism Academy . This role blends relationship-building, attention to detail, and a results-driven mindset to lead families through the admissions process with empathy and precision. Success requires strong communication, initiative, and a clear focus on enrollment goals. This position will entail working with multiple school locations and traveling between our schools in West Hempstead, Hempstead, Queens and Huntington, NY. •Please note, this is a consultative sales position and requires previous admissions (sales) experience in an education setting. Duties and responsibilities Educate prospective families on the school program primarily through phone inquiries and tours of the school. Consistently meet and/or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual minimum enrollment goals. Provide knowledge and training as a senior member of the admissions team. Adhere and abide by all admissions policies and procedures set forth by the Vice President of Admissions. Ability to be flexible with schedule including working evenings and even weekends if needed. Abide by admissions telephone contact strategy as set forth by the Vice President of Admissions. This includes but is not limited to daily telephone call volume, weekly tour activity, and pipeline funnel management. Manage and maintain accurate, enter all inquiry and referral data in timely and complete client records including (Database) CRM system. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key referral sources, including attorneys, medical professionals, and community organizations. Represent Gersh at networking events, professional conferences, and industry meetings to increase awareness of the school's programs and services. Conduct outreach campaigns to generate new leads and partnerships aligned with Gersh's admissions goals. Coordinate and participate in all recruitment efforts - open houses, fairs, events, etc. Coordinate and participate in special events involving prospective students. Be knowledgeable about, and be able to guide parents through, the legal and tuition funding process Work in partnership with admissions team, Corporate Management, and school leadership. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of statistics regarding enrollment Interpret and communicate statistics when appropriate to key stakeholders (# Inquiries, # Tours, # Enrolled, capacity in each classroom across all programs) Audit and ensure quality assurance Other duties assigned will be approached with flexibility, urgency, and a solution-oriented attitude, especially during high-volume periods or cross-campus initiatives. Qualifications Direct experience in an admissions role within an educational setting—ideally in a private school, special education program, or therapeutic school environment. An intense ambition to achieve victory A results-first mindset. Consultative Sales Experience Highly coachable and receptive to feedback, with a willingness to adopt new systems, procedures, and frameworks—even when it means letting go of outdated or non-transferable practices. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes, with the stamina and commitment to go above and beyond when needed. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously with meticulous follow-up. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills Bachelor's Degree Preferred Candidate must be detail orientated, and comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment. Customer service experience in giving our families the best experience A strong work ethic. Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel regularly, including out-of-state travel, as required by the position. Bilingual is a plus!! Schedule and Availability Expectations Schedule must be open to pre-determined campus tour schedules and open houses. Travel across campuses and extended availability during peak enrollment periods should be expected. Physical Requirements Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others and, in some cases, may need to implement CPI (therapeutic holds) procedures Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and, in some cases, be able to lift a child Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday Ability to lift (at least 50-65 pounds), assist, and/or physically support students, which may include lifting or guiding students of varying sizes Ability to physically intervene when required to ensure safety (per CPI training) Ability to remove oneself and/or others from unsafe situations quickly Ability to maintain attention and focus in a dynamic, high-stimulation environment Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making, particularly in high-pressure or safety-sensitive situations Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional relationships Ability to perform duties under stress, including during behavioral escalations Benefits Gersh Autism offers a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive health and retirement benefits, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment committed to your personal and professional growth.
