Job Description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
In collaboration with the Supervising Physician, provide diagnostic management and treatment of patients in Urgent Care.
QUALIFICATIONS
NP:
Graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner program. Must be licensed and registered to practice in New York State and Board Certification required. Must possess and maintain current CPR, age appropriate certification to care for pediatric to geriatric patients and FNP certification required.
PA:
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program. Must be licensed and registered to practice in New York State and Board Certification required. Must possess and maintain current CPR and NCCPA certification required.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience functioning as a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner in emergency medicine, physician office or urgent care center preferred. Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills required as demonstrated by: Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by customer-focused attitude and the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communication with all levels of hospital staff Ability to use sound judgement and discretion to deal professionally with sensitive patient care and interpersonal issues
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice/Performance Improvement Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the clinical privileges granted and the Nurse Practitioner definition as outlined by URMC/Noyes Memorial Hospital; and the requirements under New York State Statutes regarding Nurse Practitioner. Performs Urgent Care patient assessments, places patient orders and treatment plan in the Electronic medical record (EMR) and provides discharge or follow up instructions to the patient. Identify, analyze, implement and evaluate quality improvement activities by facilitating problem solving, conducting PI studies as necessary, and committee involvement, as needed. Assure the daily implementation of quality clinical standards, patient advocacy culture and safety practices. Maintain constant readiness for JCAHO and NYSDOH surveys. Perform additional duties as assigned. Communication Foster and maintain open, effective communication with the Medical Director, Medical Staff, nursing staff and other nursing leaders, as appropriate to foster quality care. Follow appropriate channels of communication. Role model behavior and ensure customer-focused interactions toward patients, visitors, physicians, nurses and other departments. Keeps the Medical Director and Director of Emergency Services informed of care activities, potential problem areas, and other pertinent information regarding patient care and/or staff. Recognizes situations where the appropriateness of medical care is of concern and reports these concerns to the Directors, Vice President and CEO. Education Obtains a minimum of 100 hours of CME credit biannually (as required by licensure). Shares knowledge gained and promotes the use of new ideas and skills learned. Staffing/Resource Utilization/Efficiency Develop and maintain efficient, cost-effective resource utilization practices with regard to staffing, supplies, and equipment.
Pay:
$54.93 - $78.09 per hour
