Compensation Range:
$108,483.00 - $162,725.00 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Annual Giving and School Programs, the Executive Director oversees all strategic planning to advance engagement and philanthropy for The Warner School. The Executive Director manages the relationship with the Dean, members of leadership and high-level volunteers, board members and committees. He or she manages a portfolio of prospects, with a focus on the most important supporters of the school, and a staff member. Travel on behalf of the University is required for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and a sufficient schedule of personal visits and travel to assure wise engagement of these prospects. Collaborate with University Advancement officers in supporting all annual, major, and principle gifts work for the school, participating directly where appropriate. Oversee a high level of volunteers on the Warner National Council. This entails working with leadership to recruit and manage all of the volunteers, facilitate periodic meetings and work with them individually in support of the schoolho. Supervise an office focused on producing high annual, major, and principal gifts for the school. Conceive and implement management systems to measure activity and progress. Hire, train, and evaluate staff with appropriate consultation with Dean and University Advancement. Promote a collaborative organizational culture internally and in working with other departments, keeping always focused on the common goal for moving prospect towards readiness to make more generous gift for priority purposes. Maintain thorough knowledge of school programs and priorities to support effective management decisions and prospect strategies. Give strategic direction to the Dean and other key academic leaders on key decisions to promote development efforts that focus on school priorities with appropriate consideration of issues of development feasibility. Staff the Dean in her development activities. Oversee and run a variety of meetings in the dean's absence, with full ability to make decision on behalf of the dean. Work closely with key University Advancement department leaders to insure strong working relationships, delegating oversight of these relationships to staff as appropriate. Oversee the process of assuring that University Advancement officers have sufficient knowledge of Warner programs and priorities to be effective representatives for the school and that they know whom to contact when they need more extensive and detailed information. Build a comprehensive program focusing on engaging and connecting with the Rochester community in order to expand the donor base for the school- this will include extensive planning and relationship building at the highest levels. Establish development strategy for The Warner School, along with plans and policies that are supportive of University Advancement goals and school priorities. Manage the budget and all strategic reporting. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred 10 years of relevant experience, including experience soliciting gifts or closely related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Highly developed collaborative skills and a genuine appetite for collaboration required. Evidence of ability and willingness to solicit high annual and major gifts required. Evidence of success working with Deans and other academic leaders required. Supervisory experience highly preferred Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
