Monday-Friday, 12:45pm•5:15pm (23-25 hours per week)

BIPOC and LGBTQIA• individuals are encouraged to apply! Songbirds Preschool is play and nature-based preschools for children ages 2 ½ through 5 years old. The school philosophy is inspired by the principles of Waldorf Education and shaped by the reverence for life and nature's own seasonal rhythms. The teachers provide a loving, joyful, nurturing environment, and work together in guiding the children to understand their relationship to nature and their fellow human beings through play and hands-on experiential learning. Our lively preschool is a fun, busy environment and best suited for those who enjoy spontaneity, while maintaining order in the play spaces and consistency within the daily rhythm. We see children's play as their work, and at the heart of their social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development.
Essential Job Qualifications:
Proven experience in childcare or related roles/knowledge of child development as evidenced by professional reference, education, experience, and on-the-job performance. Strong organizational skills. Ability to adapt to a flexible environment. Able to commute to work on time (Seattle, WA, 98103). ECE certificate or equivalent work experience First Aid and Infant/ Child/ Adult CPR Certification, Bloodborne Pathogens (before beginning work). Proof of negative TB test within the last 12 months (before beginning work). Able to be outdoors during all weather (heat, rain, cold, snow). Waldorf training and experience or degree in Waldorf Education is a bonus. Essential Responsibilities Care for children in a safe and affectionate manner. Engage and take the initiative in fun, creative, and educational activities to foster child development. Maintain cleanliness and order within the childcare space. Collaborate with a diverse team, sharing knowledge from various backgrounds. Communicate with administrators and other teachers for daily and weekly schedules. Help maintain a daily rhythm schedule, prepare daily spaces, materials, and activities. Lead children in activities. Attend seasonal school festivals and events outside of school hours. Teach and model consistent and appropriate conflict resolution techniques for students to discuss their problems and negotiate with each other. Ensure the safety and security of children and school grounds at all times. Report any suspicions of abuse or neglect to Director or Administrator. Assist with the care, maintenance, and appearance of the school grounds, building, and classrooms. Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
