https://www.almasd.net (under state-required info) Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced, talented, and dynamic individual to join our highly successful CTE team as a certified 7-12 agriculture educator. The goals and objectives for our agriculture teacher will include: effectively teaching real world animal science practices and procedures, equally emphasizing the three parts of the agricultural education model, establishing and maintaining positive relations with the community and supporters, managing the use of the animal science and classroom facilities through hands-on learning opportunities, keeping accurate records of financial transactions, training Leadership and Career Development Event teams, assuming responsibility for guiding/assisting student members with livestock related Supervised Agricultural Experience projects, guiding the chapter FFA officer team through the planning of a complete Program of Activities. We seek a great faculty member who will continue building a well-rounded program alongside the current agricultural instructor, emphasizing FFA competitions, leadership, and community events. EXPERIENCE MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS
Holds or can secure an Arkansas teaching license, specifically in Agriculture Sciences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3 years experience as an agricultural science teacher specifically in the area of animal science At least 3 years experience as a successful lead for the FFA Chapter in a school district Evidence of building a community supported FFA program Evidence of results in student competition at the regional, state and national level Evidence of being an active member of organizations at the local, state and national level
CONTRACT
length is 240 days. The employee is paid for 240 regular work days and also in a contract extension for hours worked outside of the regular work day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET
Conduct an instructional program according to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education rules and standards as they relate to the full scope of an agriculture education program. Adhere to agriculture curriculum provided and effectively use instructional materials and methods provided by the district Use of available technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding of agricultural sciences in practical applications Has a passion for teaching animal science concepts in a student-centered classroom Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during and outside of regular school day Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activities Responsible for public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations Keep the public informed about the agricultural program as a part of public relations Proper arrangement of classroom, shop, and laboratory Ordering new equipment and supplies Coordinating the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment Establish and monitor school procedures for keeping classroom, shop, laboratory, office, and grounds neat and attractive at all times Shop and laboratory safety are taught and observed at all times Annual inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies Alma School District assures Equal Employment Opportunities and equal education opportunities for employees and students as required by Federal and State Orders and Laws.
