Position Overview:
The Sales Arborist serves as the trusted advisor to residential property owners, ensuring the health and safety of their trees, shrubs, and landscapes. This is a field-based, client-facing sales role with an inherited book of business between $800K and $1M in annual revenue on day one. The Sales Arborist is responsible for servicing and growing the existing portfolio while developing net-new business across an assigned residential territory. The right candidate brings proven sales experience in the green industry or an adjacent service vertical, the discipline to operate within a corporate platform and standardized processes, and the polish to represent a premium brand to a residential clientele. Key Responsibilities Develop and grow an assigned residential territory by building long-term relationships with existing clients and net-new prospects Service and expand an inherited book of business of approximately $800K-$1M in annual revenue, with both inside and outside sales responsibility Diagnose and monitor landscapes, provide expert recommendations, and prepare estimates for tree, shrub, plant health care, and related services Coordinate with crews, oversee project execution, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the service lifecycle Network within the local market, generate referrals, and create new business opportunities through proactive outreach Represent the company at community and industry events, including trade shows, garden clubs, and other local engagements Operate within Salesforce CRM and the company's field tablet platform to manage pipeline, proposals, and account activity Hit monthly revenue targets that roll up to an annual goal, with missed monthly numbers carrying forward into the following month Maintain visibility into the existing book, flag retention risks early, and partner with operations to protect client relationships Qualifications & Experience Required Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a sales-specific role, with a demonstrated track record of producing against a quota or revenue target Strong relationship-building, prospecting, and customer-facing communication skills Comfort operating within a corporate structure with standardized processes, CRM discipline, and defined activity expectations Self-starter capable of managing an assigned territory independently while reporting up through a market leader or branch manager Valid driver's license and a vehicle that meets the company's auto policy standards (or willingness to comply with the policy upon hire) Must reside within the assigned market with a realistic daily commute to the branch (approximately 60 minutes or less) Polished, well-spoken, and organized — particularly important for the Cape Cod market, given the high-profile residential clientele Preferred ISA Certified Arborist credential (the company will sponsor certification for the right hire who does not yet hold it) Direct experience as a Sales Arborist, Consulting Arborist, or Plant Health Care specialist with sales responsibility at firms such as Bartlett Tree Experts, Davey Tree, The Care of Trees, ArborWorks, Rainbow Treecare, or comparable ISA-accredited operations Account Manager or Territory Sales Representative experience within tree care, horticulture services, or adjacent green industry verticals Operations leadership experience that includes hybrid sales-plus-crew responsibility (selling tree work while managing field execution) Degree in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Plant or Environmental Sciences, or Landscape Management Existing relationships within the assigned market's residential or property management community What Does Success Look Like 12-Month Success Metrics Seamless transition into the inherited book of business — client retention intact and relationships strengthened within the first 90 days Full ramp into the inherited portfolio within approximately six months, with consistent monthly revenue targets met thereafter Active development of net-new residential business on top of the inherited book, with a visible pipeline maintained in Salesforce Total first-year compensation reaching the typical Sales Arborist range driven by the inherited book and disciplined net-new activity Full utilization of Salesforce and the field tablet platform for account management, proposals, and pipeline tracking with no operational gaps Strong client communication cadence in place — no surprises, no reactive service issues, and proactive escalation of concerns where they arise Performance trajectory that positions the candidate for expanded territory, larger accounts, or internal advancement within the organization Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$80,000-$100,000 Compensation Structure:
Minimum guarantee for the first 90 days, then converts to a draw against commission; commission is uncapped Earnings Potential:
Most Sales Arborists earn more than $130,000 annually; total compensation typically ranges from $50,000 to $250,000+ based on territory performance Vehicle Program:
