State Forests Assistant. One position.
Location:
Bottineau, ND.
Period of Employment:
Part-time Temporary. No more than 20 hours per week. Up to four months.
Duties:
Individually, as part of a team, or while assisting full-time staff. State recreational forests work: Work hours are up to 20 hours per week on a variable schedule, with weekend work required. Employee may perform varied duties, work under general supervision and may be required to make independent decisions relevant to performance of work tasks. Employee must be able to work outdoors in varying conditions. Driver's license required. Operate lawn equipment, pruning tools, utility vehicles, and other equipment, including hauling trailers. Identify common trees and shrubs and weeds of North Dakota. Assist the State Forests Manager with state forest and recreation area maintenance. Provide exceptional customer service to recreational area users. Skills required: Safely and effectively operate grounds maintenance equipment, hand tools, power tools, and basic forestry equipment such as chainsaws and pole pruners. Able to engage in respectful discussions and work cooperatively with others. Valid driver's license. Able to work safely indoors and outdoors. Able to follow policies and directions. Preferred additional skills/experience: Experience working with the public. Experience managing remote outdoor recreation areas.
Work Schedule:
Up to 20 hours per week as directed. Weekend work required.
Advertised Pay:
$20 per hour Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
