Resident Engineer - NYC Parks Projects, THIS
POSITION REQUIRES A PERSONAL VEHICLE!
! Help shape New York City's green spaces—one block at a time. We're looking for a field‑driven Resident Engineer to oversee sidewalk reconstruction and street tree planting projects across New York City's parks and neighborhoods. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys being in the field, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring high‑quality work that directly improves public spaces. This long‑term position offers stability, growth, and continued involvement in NYC's ongoing street tree planting and parks improvement programs. What You'll Do Conduct daily site visits across city parks and sidewalks (typically within one borough). Be on site by 7:00 a.m. , overseeing active construction and planting operations. Monitor and coordinate contractor activities including excavation, saw cutting, planting, and concrete restoration. Ensure all work meets project specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. Work closely with project managers and NYC Parks representatives to keep projects on track. Track and verify quantities for pay items such as trees planted and excavation volumes. Complete daily field reports, measurements, and documentation. Enforce safety compliance, including proper PPE and safe work practices. Make independent field decisions and escalate issues as needed. All work is ground‑level only—no climbing, pruning, or active roadway work. What You Bring Education & Experience (one of the following): Associate degree + 2 years of relevant field experience Bachelor's degree + 1 year of related experience Master's degree + 6 months of related experience OR 3+ years of relevant hands‑on field experience Experience in construction oversight, parks projects, sidewalks, landscaping, forestry, or civil works . Ability to read and apply project specifications and contract documents. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Comfortable working independently in the field and managing multiple sites. Willingness to work outdoors year‑round in varying weather. Access to a vehicle for travel between job sites. Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Nice to Have Experience with street tree planting, tree protection, or landscape construction. Knowledge of plant species, soils, or basic plant health. Past work with landscaping or tree care companies. Familiarity with urban parks or municipal infrastructure projects. Interest in long‑term growth within parks, infrastructure, or arboriculture programs. Work Environment & Schedule Field‑based role across NYC's parks and streetscapes.Standard hours:

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
