Salary:
$60,000
  • $80,000 per year (DOE), plus commission

  • Quarterly Gear Allowance Position Summary The ISA Certified Arborist (Sales & Climbing Hybrid) plays a dual role within the company—serving both as a knowledgeable sales consultant and a skilled climbing arborist.
This position is responsible for diagnosing tree care needs, building client relationships, and producing high-quality tree work alongside the field team. This role is designed for an arborist who values both craftsmanship and communication—someone who can identify proper solutions and help clients understand and commit to them , then also step into the field to help execute that work to company standards. Core Responsibilities 1. Sales & Client Consultation (2 Days / Week) Conduct on-site consultations for residential and select commercial clients Assess tree health, structure, risk, and site conditions Develop pruning, removal, and plant health care recommendations aligned with best practices (ANSI A300 standards) Educate clients on tree biology, long-term care, and risk mitigation Prepare and present written estimates in a clear and professional manner Follow up on open proposals to maintain a strong close rate Build trust-based relationships that reflect company values and long-term thinking Coordinate with Operations Manager and Field Supervisor to ensure accurate job scoping and scheduling Identify opportunities for additional services where appropriate (without overselling) 2. Climbing Arborist / Field Production (2 Days / Week) Perform technical tree work including pruning, removals, and rigging Lead or support safe and efficient job execution as part of a crew Demonstrate advanced climbing systems and work positioning techniques Ensure all work meets company standards for quality, safety, and aesthetics Communicate job plans clearly with crew members Assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and hazard identification Maintain and inspect climbing gear and equipment Support training and mentorship of less experienced crew members Step into informal leadership roles when appropriate on job sites Key Competencies Strong working knowledge of tree biology, pruning standards, and species-specific care Ability to translate technical knowledge into clear, client-friendly communication High level of proficiency in climbing, rigging, and aerial work Solid understanding of safety protocols and risk management Time management and ability to shift between sales and production roles effectively Professional demeanor with both clients and crew members Attention to detail in both written proposals and field execution Qualifications ISA Certified Arborist (required) 4-5 years of professional tree care experience Demonstrated experience in both climbing and client interaction Valid driver's license with clean driving record Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work Performance Expectations Maintain a strong estimate-to-close ratio aligned with company goals Produce accurate, well-scoped estimates that minimize job friction Execute or support field work that meets or exceeds company quality standards Contribute positively to crew culture, teamwork, and communication Demonstrate ongoing improvement in both sales effectiveness and technical skill How to
