Experience 0•1 year Save Job Facebook Email Copy URL The Discovery Instructor position at Camp Allen is a full time seasonal position with limited openings for single-semester positions. Our school season typically starts mid August and runs through to the end of May. This position requires long hours, extensive training, adaptability, patience, and a positive attitude every step of the way. As a Discovery Instructor, you'll be trained to belay, lead challenge course activities, facilitate classes and programs, animal ambassador handling, NASP archery trained and certified, Red Cross Lifeguard certified, and take on a variety of other responsibilities that support the Discovery Outdoor Education experience.
Requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age Have U.S. Work Authorization Have a bachelor's degree OR relevant experience working with youth/in an outdoor setting Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and adaptability for varied days Stamina and athleticism to manage long hours and physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, hiking, handling heavy equipment, high ropes facilitation, and back to back educational instruction. Comfort with heights and handling animals Though we do not require our instructors to climb or obtain L1 certification for our ropes course, it is a requirement to be willing to train on belaying and be willing to handle all ambassador animals, including reptiles, insects, and birds. A passion for working with children and the curiosity to explore and teach new things An open mind and a fun-loving attitude that creates a positive learning atmosphere
Compensation:
