Job Description Overview The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Farm Assistant position to perform general construction and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities that support routine care for animals. This position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, being around farm animals, and all the tough jobs involved in farm work. Typical shift is from 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday. An occasional weekend or holiday may be needed. The formal AU title for this position is Tech, Ag-Vet Med Why work as a Farm Assistant? To learn more about the College of Veterinary Medicine, visit: https://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/ Responsibilities Performs general construction and maintenance of farm equipment, structures, and grounds, including, but not limited to the following: Fences, stalls, barns, roads, ponds, farm buildings and lawn/field care specifically repair and construction of fences. Perform routine tractor operations. May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone. Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals and transportation of animals to the proper location. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications Level I:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Level II:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience.
Level III:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience.
Level IV:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience.
License and Certifications :
Possession of a valid driver's license upon hire. Ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions.
Desired Qualifications :
