JOB SUMMARY
For complete Job duties and to apply to this job, ask an EDD Representative (job order number indicated above). Citrus Maintenance (Lemon & Mandarin) and Vineyard Farm Laborers/row boss/equipment operator/driver to perform the following duties: Workers will prune, irrigate, perform grove maintenance, fertilizing, install bee netting, pest control and perform weed and frost control. Weeding is performed by long handled hoes and by hand in accordance with the California law. Agricultural equipment operator (forklift and/or tractor) for netting and grover maintenance. Employee must conduct daily maintenance check prior to operating tractor/machine. Required to have basic knowledge of driving a forklift, must pass forklift safety training and demonstrate ability to operate tractor/machine/forklift in a safe manner. The employer will provide training, certification, and all costs will be responsibility of the employer.
Row Boss:
Worker is responsible for citrus row quality and row cleanliness. The Row Boss ensures that the workers are doing their exercises, washing their hands and carrying out their work. The Row Boss assists with the scanning of the workers for start and end times and lunch and break time. The Row Boss has no personnel authority such as hiring, firing, or personnel review. Driver:
It may be possible for workers to become drivers during the contract period. The driving job duty is not a different job and the drivers perform all farm labor job duties when not driving. Drivers pick up workers from the housing sites/pick up points and drop them off at the worksite. Workers selected to be a driver (if any) must possess a general drivers license, meet all driver requirements, and be approved prior to being assigned to this position. Employer will cover all costs associated with obtaining the drivers license and FLCE.
Requirements:
1 month of citrus orchard experience. Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops for proper ripeness and maturity, able to use shears, clippers and other agricultural tools. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is required for training and safety purposes. Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal field environment. H-2A General Assurances (guarantees to workers) Housing The employer must provide free housing to all workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residences the same day. Meals The employer must provide either three meals a day to each worker or furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities. If meals are provided, the employer may charge each worker a certain amount per day for the three meals. Transportation 1. After a worker has completed 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer must reimburse the worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence form the place of recruitment to the place or work, if such costs were borne by the worker. 7/186 2. The employer must provide free transportation between the employer's housing and the work site for any worker who is provided housing. 3. Upon completion of the work contract, the employer must pay the worker's subsistence and return transportation to the place of recruitment. 4. Special conditions apply when the worker will not be returning to the place of recruitment because of another job. Workers Compensation Insurance The employer must provide workers' compensation insurance where it is required by law. Tools and Supplies The employer must furnish at no cost to the worker all tools and supplies necessary to carry out the work unless it is common practice in the area and occupation for the worker to provide certain items. Three-fourth Guarantee The employer must guarantee to offer each worker employment for at least three-fourths of the workdays in the work contract period and any extensions. If the employer affords less employment, then the employer must pay the amount which the worker would have earned had the worker been employed the guaranteed number of days. Other Conditions 1. The employer must provide the worker a complete statement of hours worked and related earnings on each payday. 2. The employer must pay the worker at least twice monthly or more frequently if it is in the prevailing practice to do so. 3. The employer must provide a copy of a work contract or the job order to each worker. 4. The employer shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment• related laws and regulations, including employment-related health and safety laws. 5. No U.S. worker will be rejected for or terminated from employment for other than a lawful-job-related reason and notification of all rejections or terminations shall be made to EDD. 6. RESUMEN DEL TRABAJO
Jornaleros/a de hilera/operador/conductor de equipo para mantenimiento de cítricos (limones y mandarinas) y viñedos, para realizar las siguientes tareas: Podar, regar, realizar mantenimiento de huertos, fertilizar, instalar mallas antiabejas, controlar plagas y controlar malezas y heladas. El deshierbe se realiza con azadas de mango largo y a mano, de acuerdo con la ley de California. Operador de equipo agrícola (montacargas o tractor) para el mantenimiento de las mallas y los huertos. El empleado debe realizar una revisión diaria de mantenimiento antes de operar el tractor o la máquina. Se requiere tener conocimientos básicos de manejo de montacargas, aprobar la capacitación en seguridad y demostrar capacidad para operar el tractor, la máquina o el montacargas de manera segura. El empleador proporcionará. La capacitación, la certificación y todos los costos serán responsabilidad del empleador.
