This is a hands-on role focused on equipment operation, field work, manure application, and maintenance. The Crops Operations Operator works daily alongside the crops team and follows direction from the Crops Operations Manager and Director of Operations while contributing to a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment. Key Responsibilities Crop Production & Field Operations Assist with all crop operations, including: Corn silage, haylage, soybeans, and other forage or grain crops Planting, drilling, spraying, harvesting, and packing the pile Trucking and support during harvest operations Follow daily and weekly work plans provided by leadership Support crop planning and rotations through execution in the field Help maintain soil health and fertility through proper application practices Monitor crop conditions and report issues or observations to leadership Assist with grain and crop input handling and logistics as needed Manure Application & Nutrient Management Operate manure handling and application equipment, including dragline systems Apply manure according to nutrient management plans and instructions Work safely and accurately to protect soil and water quality Communicate field conditions and concerns to supervisors and agronomy partners Equipment Operation Operate farm equipment and semi-trucks as assigned Follow all safety protocols and proper operating procedures Perform daily equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting Maintain CDL compliance if applicable Take responsibility for cleanliness and care of assigned equipment Maintenance & Repairs Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities Report maintenance needs promptly to reduce downtime Support preventative maintenance efforts, especially during critical seasons Help keep farm facilities organized and in good working condition Safety Follow all safe work practices and procedures Participate in safety training as required Look out for team members and report unsafe conditions immediately Contribute to a strong safety-first culture Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with the crops team and other farm departments Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers Be dependable, punctual, and ready to support team priorities Step in where needed during busy seasons or changing conditions Qualifications Agricultural background with knowledge of crop production Experience working with corn, soybeans, hay, or other forage/grain crops preferred Experience operating farm equipment; trucking experience a plus CDL preferred Familiarity with manure application and dragline systems preferred Willingness to work hands-on in the field and around livestock Comfortable working long hours during peak seasons and variable weather
