Interested applicants should report to any State Workforce Agency (SWA) career center for help in contacting the employer. Referral by a career center provides program guarantees and protections that may not be available to a worker not referred. Workers must have valid identification for I-9 preparation when they report to the employer location to begin work. The employer may use the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services E-Verify Program to verify employment eligibility. C. Workers referred to this job by a SWA should report to a career center between 5 and 9 work days before the job start date to verify the job start date is the same. Failure to do so may disqualify the worker from the assurances of this Job Order. Worksites are located in Jackson County. Housing is located in Malone, Florida (Jackson County). D. Job Offer:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Shovel, haul, spread manure, & dig holes, ditches, & trenches. Irrigation maintenance. Remove debris from fields using hoes, shovels, baskets, etc. Manually plant, cultivate, harvest, count, load, unload, and pack vegetables, produce, horticultural specialties & field crops (cucumbers, eggplant, & squash). Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives, & any other farm equipment related to planting cultivating, & harvesting vegetables, watermelons, squash, tomato, cucumbers, eggplant, and oranges. Workers may repair fences and existing farm buildings and participate in irrigation activities. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed area, thinning/pruning crops, applying pesticides, cleaning, grading, & packing harvested product. Citrus - Following the supervisors instructions, the worker will place a picking sack over their shoulder and carry an 18' to 22' ladder from the field truck to the area of the grove to be harvested. The picking sack is a canvas bag equipped with a shoulder strap for support, an opening for the insertion of fruit, and an opening to remove fruit. A fully loaded sack weighs between 80 and 100 lbs., depending on size, condition, and variety. Worker positions ladder against the tree and within reach of the fruit in a leaning position, taking care not to break limbs, damage the tree, knock off fruit, or interfere with other workers in a secure position to prevent slipping or falling and possible injury to themselves or other workers. Worker will remove fruit from the tree and place into pick sack. When picking sack is full, take full sack to fruit container located in the grove and drop fruit from pick sack into container. To perform this kind of work, the worker must be physically able to harvest citrus, fill his assigned sacks, and transport it to the packing house. The employee must be able to climb ladders with extra weight of the sack Workers may assist in trimming, irrigation, fertilizing, or maintenance of the citrus trees. Packing takes place in the fields and in a packing house that is owned by Shelby Farms. Blueberries:
Workers may receive a hooked belt and carry 2-1 gallon picking buckets as they move down assigned rows picking all ripe berries placing them in the bucket. Workers harvesting blueberries will be paid by the piece rate of $0.67 per pound or $4.00 a gallon bucket. In order to meet to production standards listed in this application for this specific group activity, a worker will harvest an average of either 20.90 lbs or 3.50 1gallon buckets per hour. Each worker must pick the plants clean of all ripe fruit. When buckets are filled, the worker will take to the supervisor who then will give him a ticket or place bucket on scale to be weighed. At the end of the workday, the workers will give all the tickets they collected throughout the day to the supervisor/manager to count how may gallons, buckets, or pounds they picked all day. Inspect fields irrigation systems, replace damaged pipes, valves, water jets, sprinklers, etc. using necessary equipment. Strawberries:
Workers may receive clamshell flats filling them as they move down assigned rows picking all ripe berries placing them in the flat. Workers harvesting strawberries will be paid by the piece rate of $2.00 per 3x3 clamshell flat. In order to meet production standards listed in this application for this specific activity, a worker will harvest an average of 7 3x3 clamshell flats per hour. Each worker must pick the plants clean of all rip berries. When flats are filled, the worker will take to the supervisor who then will give him a ticket or place flat on scale to be weighed. Pay:

Monday thru Friday 6 hours per day; Saturday & Sunday 5 hours per day Work may be offered but not required on holidays. Extra work hours may be offered based on weather and other conditions. F. Employer will refund workers living outside commuting distance the reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to report for the first day of work on the 50% date. Will provide workers who complete the contract period the reasonable cost of transportation and subsistence to return to place of recruitment or to report to the next H-2A job. G. Housing and Board. Housing:
Will provide free housing for workers who arrive from outside daily commuting distance. Family housing is not available. Meals (Board): The employer will provide housing with a free, convenient, and fully equipped kitchen facilities with refrigerator, stove, pots, pans, utensils and counter space for cooking, that will enable the workers to prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities will include dishwashing facilities with adequate sinks that have hot and cold water under pressure that are in working conditions to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will also provide free transportation once per week to/from closest town or city to buy food, banking services, and other necessaries. Transportation will be in an approved bus/van/car/truck at no cost to workers. Housing meets the requirements of Federal, State and Local regulations. Rules regarding living accommodations will be found in the Clearance Order. Transportation provided by the employer meets the requirements of Federal, State and Local regulations. H. Prohibition against preferential treatment of aliens: The employer's job offer must offer to U.S. workers no less than the same benefits, wages, and working conditions that the employer is offering, intends to offer, or will provide to H-2A workers. Job offers may not impose on U.S. workers any restrictions or obligations that will not be imposed on the employer's H-2A workers. This does not relieve the employer from providing to H-2A workers at least the same level of minimum benefits, wages, and working conditions which must be offered to U.S. workers. I.
