THE OPPORTUNITY
Calo Landscape is seeking an accomplished landscape professional to serve as our Head of Landscape Design & Horticulture. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in high-end residential landscape design-build who values thoughtful design, exceptional horticulture, strong client relationships, and professional project execution. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, a design resource to our team, and a key contributor throughout the design, estimating, and project delivery process. This role combines landscape design, horticultural expertise, client consultation, estimating, project coordination, and field collaboration. The ideal candidate understands that successful landscapes are not simply designed—they are thoughtfully planned, accurately estimated, expertly installed, and carefully stewarded from concept through completion. Landscape Design Develop professional landscape designs for high-end residential properties Create scaled landscape plans from surveys and field measurements Produce high-quality color renderings and presentation materials Design planting plans, hardscape layouts, grading concepts, and landscape details Develop construction-ready drawings that can be successfully executed in the field Create client presentation packages and plant picture pages Client Experience Meet directly with clients throughout the design and construction process Lead design consultations and project planning meetings Present designs, concepts, budgets, and recommendations Serve as a trusted advisor regarding design, horticulture, and project execution Conduct project completion walkthroughs and client closeout meetings Estimating & Project Coordination Develop accurate project estimates and budgets Utilize Leanscaper software for estimating and project management Coordinate with field teams to ensure successful project execution Assist in project scheduling and production planning Monitor project profitability and performance Horticultural Leadership Serve as Calo Landscape's internal horticultural expert Develop planting recommendations and specifications Create plant care guides and maintenance recommendations Establish horticultural standards and best practices Support ongoing team education and training Leadership & Team Development Collaborate with ownership and leadership on company initiatives Support the continued refinement of systems and processes Contribute to the growth and development of future design staff Help maintain the culture, standards, and professionalism that define Calo Landscape QUALIFICATIONS
Required Extensive experience in landscape design and horticulture Strong background in high-end residential landscape projects Ability to create scaled landscape plans and construction-ready drawings Experience producing color renderings and client presentation materials Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills Strong organizational and project management abilities Comprehensive plant knowledge and horticultural expertise Extensive experience with LMN software Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Preferred AutoCAD proficiency Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related degree Experience estimating landscape construction projects Experience using Leanscaper or similar estimating software Bilingual English/Spanish Experience working with premier residential landscape firms, landscape architects, architects, or custom builders WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE
