Job Description
We are a growing independent nursery and garden center in Central Iowa seeking a dependable, hardworking, and versatile team member to join our operation as an Operations & Assistant Grower . This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys a wide variety of work including greenhouse production, equipment operation, deliveries, logistics, and seasonal operations support. The role offers long-term opportunity and increasing responsibility as our business continues to grow. About the Position This role is ideal for someone who: enjoys working both indoors and outdoors, likes operating equipment and staying active, can adapt to changing priorities during spring season, and wants to be part of a growing horticulture business. The position works closely with ownership and the Head Grower to help keep production and operations running efficiently during the busiest times of year. No two days are exactly the same. ResponsibilitiesOperations & Logistics Deliver plant material to customers and retail locations using box truck Load/unload carts, racks, trees, and plant material Assist with shipping, staging, and inventory movement Operate skid loader, forklift, carts, and other equipment Help maintain organized work areas and efficient workflow Greenhouse & Nursery Support Assist with watering and crop care Support greenhouse production and plant maintenance Help move and space crops Assist with seasonal setup and merchandising Work alongside the grower team during peak production periods Team & Seasonal Support Assist with coordinating daily operational tasks Help support and guide seasonal employees during busy periods Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment Qualifications Preferred qualifications: Experience operating equipment or driving box trucks Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to lift and work in a fast-paced environment Good organizational and communication skills Comfortable working outdoors and in greenhouse environments Forklift or equipment experience is a plus CDL is a plus but not required Pesticide applicator license (or willingness to obtain) is a plus Horticulture experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate with strong operational skills and willingness to learn. Schedule Expectations Spring is our busiest season, and this position requires flexibility during peak periods including some weekends and extended hours.
