Position Overview The Horticulture Specialist requires strong management skills as the individual will oversee various aspects of a large commercial business site. This is a production leadership role requiring exceptional communication skills, teamwork, and attention to detail. Job Duties:
Maintain and care for interior platescapes (including deadheading, cleaning, and pest control) Maintain exterior landscape beds by weeding, watering, and leaf blowing Plant and maintain seasonal color in beds and containers Basic ornamental pruning, perennial care, and interior plant care Remove trash and debris Install exterior and interior seasonal holiday decor Other duties may include raking, insect control, edging, mulching, etc. Day-to-Day Stuff This specialized position works primarily inside an office setting, tending the care of interior plants Possess thorough knowledge of Perficut's Best Practices by leading and performing by its standards Implement and enforce site specific and Company policies and procedures Coordinate all materials, people and equipment required to produce a quality job Adhere to quality and safety standards Evaluate and report conditions that detract from the safety or aesthetic value of the property Communicate effectively with supervisor and crew members Effectively manage personnel and other resources Efficiently prioritize production tasks to maximize profitability Oversee scheduling of jobs to meet deadlines Meet deadlines and follow instructions and expectations Lead training and retention initiatives Other projects, as assigned Characteristics Needed to Succeed Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record 2- or 4-year degree in Landscape Horticulture or related field preferred At least 2 years of management experience Possess or achieve any industry required certification within 90 days of hire Professionally represent Perficut with excellent verbal and written communication skills with peers, crew members and clients Positive attitude and desire to make corporate sites beautiful Available to work outside regular business hours as needs dictate Flexibility to workplace changes Ability to think strategically and provide outside of the box solutions Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software and technology Recognize and recommend opportunities for additional services Oversee the accuracy of each crew's paperwork, including validating hours worked Identify and mentor key staff members for advancement Possess effective management techniques during snow events and observes appropriate balance for self and team between snow and ice management services and time off the clock for rest Demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and with a team Special duties for snow as assigned Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
