Job Description:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a progressive dairy operation in Illinois who is searching for an energetic and career-minded Herdsman to support the Dairy Manager in daily herd and farm operations. This is am excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with cattle, employees, and the public while continuing to develop their dairy skills within a modern and growing operation.
The Herdsman will assist with day-to-day herd responsibilities including monitoring herd health, animal care, fresh cow management, treatments, breeding support, and general dairy operations. The position will work closely with the Dairy Manager to help ensure protocols are followed, daily tasks are completed efficiently, and the herd continues to perform at a high level.
Additional responsibilities may include assisting with employee coordination, supporting farm and crop operations as needed, and helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Candidates with an interest in broader dairy responsibilities will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas of the operation.
The dairy also operates a milk and cheese processing facility and plans to expand its agri-education and public tour programs. As a result, this individual may assist with educational tours and interact with school groups, visitors, and the public during seasonal events. A friendly, outgoing personality and willingness to represent the dairy in a professional manner are important qualities for this role.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the dairy industry, a desire to continue learning, and the motivation to grow within the operation over time.
