Job Description
The Parks and Landscape Seasonal Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and manual labor tasks involved in maintaining parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, picnic areas, restrooms and other park areas. Tasks may include general maintenance, mowing, tree and shrub trimming, weeding, garbage pick-up, planting and caring for flower beds and other general landscaping tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1.
Under the direction of a full-time Park Specialist, works on a landscaping crew or horticulture crew. May perform mowing, trimming, edging, tree and shrub pruning, litter and leaf pick-up/clean-up, and other landscaping tasks and maintenance projects. 2. Must be able to safely and competently operate push, riding, string mowers and other landscaping equipment. 3. Plants, waters, weeds and maintains planting beds. 4. Operates District vehicles if in possession of a valid Illinois Drivers' License. 5. Assists with trash removal. 6. Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of public restrooms including scrubbing and mopping. 7. Performs strenuous tasks such as heavy lifting, tree planting, digging and other projects as assigned. 8. Responsible for following appropriate safety guidelines and utilizes standards of performance set forth in the Park Operations Manual for all work. 9. Assists with the set-up and tear-down for special events.OTHER DUTIES
Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to and actively enforces the safety responsibilities and safety procedures outlined in the District's Safety Manual and overall risk management program.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Prefer High School diploma or equivalent (GED)Experience:
Must be an adult, at least 18 years of age. One year related experience preferred.Certifications:
Possession of a valid Illinois Drivers' License.Pay:
