Two years of experience in the care of animals; the general care of crops, shrubs, or plants; or farm-related equipment and machinery operation; OR Twelve semester hours in an agricultural field. Job Duties:

As a Research Farm Specialist 1, you will have the following job duties: Cares and feeds livestock. Assists in animal health by monitoring health of research animals, administering medication as prescribed, and checking progress. (25%) Cares for and maintains field crops. Assist in all operations associated with crop production including tillage, planting, maintaining, and harvesting row crops. (25%) Operates, maintains, and makes adjustments to complex agricultural equipment. (25%) Mixes chemicals according to instruction on container label. Administers insecticides and fertilizers. (20%) Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, M-F, with the potential for some weekend work during harvest season.

Compensation:

The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Location:

Dean Lee Research Station, Alexandria, La. This position is not eligible for remote employment.
