In this vital role, you will be responsible for caring for dairy animals, maintaining farm equipment, and supporting daily farm operations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills in animal husbandry, equipment maintenance, and farm management. Duties Assist with daily animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, and monitoring animal health and behavior Operate heavy machinery and farm equipment such as tractors, milking machines, irrigation systems, and forklifts safely and efficiently Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm machinery using hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and basic mechanical knowledge Support livestock handling procedures with care and safety protocols to ensure animal welfare Maintain cleanliness of barns, milking parlors, and surrounding areas to promote a healthy environment for animals Assist with crop growing activities such as irrigation management, greenhouse work, and horticultural tasks when applicable Follow safety guidelines during heavy lifting, equipment operation, welding tasks, and other physically demanding activities to prevent injuries Qualifications Prior supervising experience or leadership roles in farm or agricultural settings is preferred Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance is highly desirable Experience with animal husbandry practices including animal care and handling techniques Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other power tools safely Knowledge of farming practices including irrigation systems, greenhouse management, horticulture, or growing experience is a plus Strong understanding of basic math for measurements and record keeping in farming operations Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual labor throughout the workday Familiarity with equine experience or general livestock management is beneficial Hands-on experience with equipment repair, welding, or greenhouses enhances your fit for this role This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to contribute to sustainable farming practices while developing their skills in agriculture.
